German researchers claim to have identified the hippodrome at Olympia, in Western Greece, some 1,600 years after the historic sports venue disappeared under river mud.

Obverse: Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Reverse: Artemis standing right, quiver at shoulder, holding branch and antler of stag standing behind her.

Near VF, brown patina. 34 mm, 21.04 g.
Extremely rare - one of two known, the other in the Vatican museum.
This would be very cool if it happens. An historical society, Vadis Al Maximo, is trying to bring them back.
