I just added this denarius of Marcus Junius Brutus to the gallery. For those of you who don’t know, he was one of the chief conspirators in the assassination of Julius Caesar. Caesar is reported to have said during his assassination “Et tu Brute?”, which means “You too Brutus?” Click on the thumbnail for a larger pic and attribution.

Just in, this coin was minted in 82 BC. in a military mint by L. Manlius Torquatus, Proquaestore to Sulla. On the reverse of the coin is Sulla triumphing in a quadriga (four horse chariot) while being crowned by victory.
Tomorrow ( Jan. 8 ) is the NH Primary. I would like to encourage all of my fellow Granite Staters to vote. The reverse of the coin below shows a Roman citizen casting a ballot more than 2000 years ago.
