Archaeology magazine has come out with its list of the top ten discoveries of 2007.
Some of us coin nerds carry around “pocket” coins. This is my present one, a Marcus Aurelius Consecratio sestertius. This coin was struck after he died and was deified. It’s hard to see, but on the reverse of the coin is his four story funeral pyre surmounted by a quadriga, a four horse chariot.
